Uganda remains the top favorite because it plays host to the most part of the World’s Gorilla Population.

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda.

Uganda is a good destination for gorilla trekking safaris because it has the biggest percentage of the population.

The nation has two parks that house these apes. Therefore for a Uganda gorilla trekking safari you choose either Bwindi impenetrable or Mgahinga National Park.

Bwindi is located in the Western part of Uganda. It differentiates itself with its thick and strong impenetrable forest where thee Mountain Gorillas live.

It takes 8-9 hours’ to drive from Kampala to up Bwindi impenetrable National Park vis Masaka – Mbarara high way with a stopover at the equator for some brief explanations by the officials, Photographs and Snacks. Lunch is also provided en-route.

Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi are grouped in four sectors named Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija and Rushaga sector, Rushaga sector has the more Gorilla families for trekking and Nkuringo has the least with only one gorilla family.

If you opt for Gorilla Habituation in Uganda its only done in Bwindi impenetrable National Park which almost goes for a full day while in the Jungle.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the second the Gorilla spot in Uganda. It’s also located in the western part of the nation. It’s characterized with montane and bamboo forest.

It has only one group for trekking named Nyakagezi Gorilla family.

The permit for gorilla trekking in Uganda costs $700 USD per person, Gorilla Habituation permit costs $1500 USD per person. All these permits are legal to be used by only one person on the specified dates.

Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda.

Rwanda is also among the three Gorilla hosting destinations found in Africa and it’s commonly known for the shy endangered Mountain gorillas which are found in Volcanoes National park.

Volcanoes National park is one of the top Rwanda’s destinations to visit located in Ruhengeri province. Driving from Kigali it takes 2-3 hours to reach volcanoes National park.

Volcanoes National Park also has over ten habituated Gorilla families for trekking plus two gorilla families for research, some of the Gorilla families are Susa Gorilla family, Umubano gorilla family, Amahoro gorilla family, Kwitonda gorilla family, Sabyinyo Gorilla family, Agasha Gorilla family and more.

Similarly, in Rwanda maximum of eight people are allowed to go for the trekking per Gorilla family and after discovering these apes in the Jungle you are allowed to stay around with them for one hour while sharing with them, taking photos and more.

The permit for Gorilla trekking in Rwanda now costs $1500 USD per person per day it was recently increased from $750 USD.

Gorilla Trekking in DR Congo.

Democratic Republic of Congo is a big country located in the central part of the African continent. It is among the three gorilla hosting destinations in the continent.

This remarkable country has both Mountain and low land Gorillas which inhabit two top destinations named the Virunga and Kahuzi Biega National Park.

Virunga National Park is the most known protected area in Democratic Republic of Congo. It invites several tourists who want  to the rarely see species of Mountain Gorillas.

A group of eight people is allowed to go for the trekking per Gorilla family and you are permitted to stay around them for one hour after head back to the park offices.

If you need to see the Low land Gorillas are found only in Kahuzi Biega National Park.

The permit for gorilla trekking in DR Congo costs $ 400 USD per person. It is cheaper when compared to the price of Uganda and Rwanda.
