It is usually started in the morning after some briefing by the park officials following the already established routes heading into the Jungle with the assigned park ranger guide in search of these apes.

After locating their presence you are allowed one hour while with these apes. See them feeding, laughing, playing with their young ones.

This is the very time you should use to take a couple of photos for these apes but for successful trekking you should ensure the following points listed below:-

Always maintain your voice at low tone while in the Jungle, move slowly in the Jungle, do not run after these apes, keep a distance of about seven meters from these apes.

Do not touch on these apes without permission, never eat in the presence of these gentle giants of the Jungle.

If you have any signs of infectious diseases you are not allowed to go for this activity and lastly do not use flush cameras when taking photos of these apes as you may scare them thus forcing them to attack you.

After one-hour session you are required to vacate this place to create room for these apes such that they can continue with their day to day work.

Gorilla Permits. The permit required for trekking excursions costs $700 USD per person in Uganda, $1500 USD per person in Rwanda and $400 USD per person in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Uganda and DR Congo appears to be cheaper. The money is paid in advance through a local tour operator such that your permit is booked and processed in advance before your trekking dates.
